Jairos Kangira

Jairos Kangira is Associate Professor of English and Head of the Department of Language and Literature Studies at the University of Namibia. He successfully launched the first Master’s degree program in English in Namibia in 2012 and was instrumental in establishing the Namibia Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Association. His interests are in applied linguistics, rhetoric, rhetorical theory and criticism, and literature. He has researched and published on presidential rhetoric in Namibia and Zimbabwe, life-writing, and campaign rhetoric. He has also studied the grammatical structure of the Kalanga language. He is co-convener of The African Association for Rhetoric and Partners Conference. In addition, he has published widely as a freelance journalist and has published a collection of short stories.
